Vivactil® is a medication that is used to treat depression in adults. It is a type of tricyclic antidepressant and works by allowing serotonin and norepinephrine to stay in the brain longer. Vivactil tablets are available by prescription and are generally taken three to four times a day. Possible side effects of the drug include confusion, dry mouth, difficulty urinating, and constipation.
