Vivactil Side Effects

Possible Vivactil side effects include weight gain or weight loss, flushing, and difficulty urinating. Although side effects of the medication are generally minor and easily treated, certain problems may require immediate medical attention. Let your healthcare provider know right away if you develop serious side effects of Vivactil, such as changes in heart rhythm, fast heart rate, seizures, or any breast changes.

An Introduction to Vivactil Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Vivactil® (protriptyline hydrochloride). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in many cases, they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Reported Vivactil Side Effects

Vivactil has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, in which a group of people taking the drug have side effects documented and compared to another group not taking the medicine.
 This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

Vivactil seems less likely to cause drowsiness than other tricyclic antidepressants.
