Precautions and Warnings With Vilazodone

Who Should Not Take Vilazodone?

You should avoid vilazodone if you:
  • Are allergic to it, Viibryd, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
  • Are taking linezolid (Zyvox®) or intravenous methylene blue. Vilazodone should not be started in people taking linezolid or IV methylene blue, but a person already taking vilazodone may be given linezolid or methylene blue, if absolutely necessary, and only with very careful monitoring and only if vilazodone is stopped during treatment.
  • Are currently taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks (see Drug Interactions With Vilazodone).
