Is Varenicline Used for Off-Label Reasons?

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend varenicline for something other than smoking cessation. Early studies in rats suggest that the drug may also be effective for treating alcoholism, although much more research is needed before this can be considered a safe and effective off-label varenicline use.
