Drug Interactions With Trazodone ER

Lithium
Taking trazodone ER with lithium can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see Precautions and Warnings With Trazodone ER), as it can be very dangerous.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
Combining trazodone ER with other antidepressants may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be very dangerous.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
You should not take trazodone ER and an MAOI within 14 days of each other, as serious side effects could result.
 
Phenytoin
Taking phenytoin with trazodone ER may increase the level of phenytoin in your blood, increasing your risk of phenytoin side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor the level of phenytoin in your blood, especially when you are starting or stopping trazodone ER.
 
Sibutramine
Taking trazodone ER with sibutramine can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see Precautions and Warnings With Trazodone ER), as it can be very dangerous.
 
SSRI or SNRI Antidepressants
Taking trazodone ER with SSRI or SNRI antidepressants can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these depression medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see Precautions and Warnings With Trazodone ER), as it can be very dangerous.
