Drug Interactions With Tranylcypromine

Cough, Cold, and Allergy Products
Taking tranylcypromine with many cough, cold, and allergy products (including eye drops or nasal products) can increase your risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure. Most of these products should never be taken with tranylcypromine. Always check with your healthcare provider before taking any cough, cold, or allergy products.
 
Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril)
Do not take cyclobenzaprine and tranylcypromine within two weeks of each other, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure or seizures.
 
Disulfiram (Antabuse)
There is some evidence that taking disulfiram with tranylcypromine may cause dangerous side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Entacapone (Comtan, Stalevo)
Combining entacapone and tranylcypromine can lead to dangerous side effects. Do not take these medications together or within two weeks of each other.
 
Levodopa (Parcopa, Sinemet, Sinemet CR, Stalevo)
Do not take levodopa and tranylcypromine within two weeks of each other, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure.
 
Methyldopa (Aldomet, Aldoril)
Do not take methyldopa and tranylcypromine within two weeks of each other, due to the risk of dangerous side effects, such as high blood pressure.
 
Meperidine (Demerol)
You should not take meperidine while taking tranylcypromine (or even if you have taken tranylcypromine within the past 14 days), due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
You should not take certain antidepressants while taking tranylcypromine (or if you have taken tranylcypromine within the past 14 days) due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking tranylcypromine with other MAOIs can increase your chance of developing dangerous side effects. Do not take tranylcypromine and other MAOIs within two weeks of each other.
