Tofranil PM Side Effects

Constipation, drowsiness, and changes in blood sugar levels are some of the common side effects of Tofranil PM. For the most part, Tofranil PM side effects are minor and can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some side effects with Tofranil PM that you should report to your healthcare provider, including changes in heart rhythm; anxiety, agitation, or panic attacks; swelling of the testicles; or any breast changes (including breast enlargement or breast discharge).

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Tofranil PM^® (imipramine pamoate). However, not everyone who takes the antidepressant will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it well. When people do develop Tofranil PM side effects, in many cases they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Tofranil PM

Tofranil PM has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials.

In these studies, side effects that occur in a group of people taking Tofranil PM are documented and are then compared to side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, some of the side effects of Tofranil PM included:

Dizziness or lightheadedness
Drowsiness
Confusion
Constipation
Difficulty urinating

Erectile dysfunction (ED or impotence) or changes in libido (sex drive) (see Imipramine Sexual Side Effects for more information)
Changes in blood sugar levels
Sensitivity to the sun
Increased sweating.
