Tofranil PM Drug Interactions

Linezolid (Zyvox)
Taking Tofranil PM with linezolid can increase your chance of developing dangerous side effects, including serotonin syndrome. Do not take these medications together.
 
Methylphenidate
Methylphenidate may increase the level of Tofranil PM in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Tofranil PM dosage, especially if you are starting or stopping methylphenidate.
 
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking Tofranil PM with MAOIs can increase your chances of developing dangerous side effects. Do not take Tofranil PM if you have taken an MAOI within the past two weeks.
 
Phenothiazines
Taking Tofranil PM with phenothiazine medications can raise the level of Tofranil PM in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Also, combining Tofranil PM with certain phenothiazines can increase your risk of a dangerous irregular heart rhythm called QT prolongation. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
Phenytoin may decrease the level of Tofranil PM in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your Tofranil PM dose, especially if you are starting or stopping phenytoin.
 
Pressors
Taking Tofranil PM with pressor medications can increase your risk of side effects. If you are taking Tofranil PM with pressor medications, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your doses of these medications.
 
SSRI or SNRI Medications
Taking Tofranil PM with SSRIs or SNRIs could increase your chance of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking such medications together.
 
St. John's Wort
Combining Tofranil PM with St. John's wort may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
  
Thyroid Medications
Taking Tofranil PM with thyroid medications can increase your risk of Tofranil PM side effects. If you are taking Tofranil PM with a thyroid medication, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your doses of these medications.
