Thorazine Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Thorazine is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
Alcohol
In general, people taking Thorazine should avoid alcohol (see Alcohol and Thorazine).
 
Barbiturates
Thorazine should not be combined with large doses of barbiturates, due to the increased risk of sedation and other problems.
 
Certain Anticonvulsants
Taking Thorazine with certain anticonvulsants (seizure medications) can increase your risk of drowsiness and seizures. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
 
Certain SSRI Antidepressants
Taking Thorazine with certain SSRI antidepressants can increase the amount of Thorazine in your blood, increasing your risk of Thorazine side effects. If you are taking these drugs together, your healthcare provider may need to decrease your Thorazine dosage.
 
Narcotics and Opiates
Thorazine should not be combined with large doses of narcotics or opiates, due to the increased risk of sedation and other problems.
 
Pindolol
Combining Thorazine with pindolol may raise the levels of both medications in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
 
Propranolol (Inderal, Inderal LA, InnoPran XL)
Combining Thorazine with propranolol may raise the levels of both medications in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
