Precautions and Warnings With the Selegiline Transdermal Patch

In order to have a safe treatment process, it is important to understand some precautions and warnings with the selegiline transdermal patch. Some warnings with this medicine include potentially lethal food and drug interactions, an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in some people who take the medicine, and the safety of taking it during pregnancy. Among the people who should not use the selegiline transdermal patch are those who are allergic to any of the ingredients used to make it and those who have an upcoming surgery.

  • Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Drink alcohol regularly.
     
You should also make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
