6 Weeks Pregnant: An Overview
Wow! You are 6 weeks pregnant. At this point in your pregnancy, you may still be acclimating to the idea that in less than a year, you will be someone's mommy! As the week progresses, you may start experiencing more
pregnancy symptoms. Your baby's heart is also now beating in a normal pattern.
Your baby is now likely between 0.08 and 0.16 inches long.
Changes in Your Body at 6 Weeks Pregnant
During week six of your pregnancy, the embryo is growing rapidly, which means that your physical sensations of pregnancy can be more severe during this week.
Physical signs of pregnancy that may develop when you're 6 weeks pregnant can include:
- Nausea and morning sickness
- Food cravings and food aversions
- Extreme fatigue
- Tender, tingling, aching breasts
- Darkening of the areolae (areas around your nipples)
- Frequent need to urinate.
Although pregnant women may experience these symptoms prior to week 6 of pregnancy, such symptoms tend to be more severe during week 6 due to the rapid growth of the embryo during this time.
