Paliperidone palmitate (Invega® Sustenna®) is a drug given once a month to help treat schizophrenia in adults. The injection is administered by a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting.
Most people have no problems with paliperidone palmitate; however, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, commonly reported side effects included headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness. Such reactions are usually mild and easily treated.
However, there are some potentially serious side effects that can occur with paliperidone palmitate. For example, make sure to contact your healthcare provider right away if you have seizures, a high fever, or difficulty breathing.
