For the treatment of panic disorder, dosing usually starts at orally disintegrating alprazolam 0.5 mg three times a day. However, your specific amount will depend on several factors, such as your age and other medical conditions you may have.

The dose of orally disintegrating alprazolam (Niravam®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • Your age
  • The reason you are taking it

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Orally Disintegrating Alprazolam Dosing for Anxiety Disorder

The initial dose of orally disintegrating alprazolam for treating anxiety disorder is usually 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg three times a day. Your healthcare provider may increase this amount, if needed, to control your anxiety symptoms. It is recommended that doses be increased no more often than every three to four days. The maximum recommended dosage for treating anxiety disorder is 4 mg a day.
If you experience uncomfortable side effects, your healthcare provider may slowly decrease your dose. In general, it is recommended that dosages of orally disintegrating alprazolam be decreased by no more than 0.5 mg every three days.
