Can You Cut a Nicotine Patch?

Before using a nicotine patch (Nicoderm® CQ®), make sure the patch is not cut or damaged. Using a patch that is cut or damaged can affect the amount of the nicotine that is released from the patch, which may cause you to get too much or too little of the nicotine.
If too much nicotine is released from a patch that is cut, it may cause a nicotine overdose. Make sure you contact your healthcare provider right away if you develop any signs of an overdose on this medication, including tremors, vomiting, or vision problems.
