Methylphenidate ER Oral Suspension

Methylphenidate ER oral suspension is a prescription drug licensed to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although the medicine is a stimulant, it produces a calming effect in people with ADHD. In a clinical trial, it was shown to be effective at treating symptoms of ADHD in children, although it can also be given to adults. Insomnia, mood swings, and skin scratches are possible side effects.

Methylphenidate ER oral suspension (Quillivant XR™) is a prescription medication approved to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It contains methylphenidate, a stimulant medicine, in an extended-release liquid form that only needs to be taken once a day.
 
Because it has the potential to be abused, methylphenidate ER oral suspension is a federally controlled substance. As a controlled substance, there are strict laws and regulations controlling the use of the medication. Like most other stimulants, methylphenidate ER oral suspension is a Schedule II controlled substance. Schedule II controlled substances are considered to have the highest abuse potential of all prescription medications.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, methylphenidate ER oral suspension can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
