Methamphetamine hydrochloride (Desoxyn®) is a prescription drug licensed for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is also approved as a short-term treatment for obesity. Although methamphetamine is a stimulant, it produces a calming effect when taken in doses intended for ADHD treatment. The medication comes in tablet form and is either taken once or twice a day for ADHD or half an hour before each meal for weight loss.
