Nicotrol Inhaler Drug Information

Available by prescription only, the Nicotrol® Inhaler (nicotine inhaler) is a medication used to help people stop smoking. The nicotine in the inhaler is absorbed through the mouth into the body with each inhalation, and this helps reduce the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. The Nicotrol Inhaler is approved for use in people over the age of 18 and is currently available as a brand-name drug only.

Before using the Nicotrol Inhaler, review the safety information on this drug, as it may not be suitable for some people. For example, let your healthcare provider know if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, or are taking any other medications. Most people are able to use it without any problems, but side effects are possible. In clinical studies, up to 40 percent of people using this medicine reported throat or mouth irritation.
