Lurasidone Drug Information

Lurasidone hydrochloride (Latuda®) is a prescription medication that is taken once a day for the treatment of schizophrenia. Common symptoms of schizophrenia include:
 
  • Delusions
  • Hallucinations
  • Flat affect (immobile facial expression, monotonous voice)
  • Lack of pleasure in everyday life.
     
Although generally well tolerated, this drug is not suitable for everyone. Before taking lurasidone, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have diabetes; epilepsy; or problems with your heart, kidneys, or liver.
 
Lurasidone comes in tablet form and is typically taken once a day. At this time, it is available only as a brand-name medicine.
