Information on ADD

Attention deficit disorder (ADD) is the former name for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The condition is characterized by an inability to focus on tasks and stay still. Possible warning signs can include:

  • A failure to listen to instructions
  • An inability to organize oneself and school work
  • Fidgeting with hands and feet
  • Talking too much
  • Leaving projects, chores, and homework unfinished.

Typically, ADD is diagnosed in childhood, but it may continue into the adult years. If left untreated, it may lead to depression, poor self-esteem, and other behavioral problems.
