Elavil

amitriptyline hydrochloride) is a medication used for the treatment of
depression. Available by prescription only, the medication comes in tablet form and is available in six different strengths. At this time, it is not approved for children under the age of 12.
Elavil belongs to a class of medications called
tricyclic antidepressants. It is typically taken one to three times a day. Before your healthcare provider prescribes this
antidepressant, let him or her know if you are pregnant, drink alcohol frequently, or have
bipolar disorder (or a family history of
bipolar disorder). Dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, and drowsiness are some of the most common side effects.
