Dexmethylphenidate Extended-Release Info

Healthcare providers prescribe dexmethylphenidate extended-release (Focalin XR®) as a treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The extended-release capsules are specially designed to release half of the medication immediately and the second half of the medication after approximately four hours. As a result, this drug can be taken just once a day.

To minimize potential risks with dexmethylphenidate extended-release, make sure your healthcare provider has a current list of any other drugs you are taking, including nonprescription products, as well as up-to-date information on your medical history. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
