Atomoxetine (Strattera)
Atomoxetine (Strattera®) is a prescription drug used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults, teenagers, and children. This medication was the first nonstimulant drug approved for the treatment of ADHD. It comes in the form of a capsule and is available in several strengths.
Atomoxetine is normally taken once or twice a day. Although it's not entirely clear how the drug works, it is known to affect norepinephrine, a chemical in the brain.
(Click Atomoxetine for more detail about how the medicine works, how and when to take it, and things to tell your healthcare provider about before starting treatment.)
