Attention deficit disorder (ADD) is a condition that most people think of as affecting children; however, it can affect adults to some extent. There is debate over whether children with ADD outgrow it by the time they become adults or whether it persists. It is estimated that between 30 and 70 percent of children with ADD will continue to have symptoms into adulthood.

 

In adults, these symptoms are more elaborate and have to do with self-regulation, time management, and organization. Once a diagnosis of ADD is made, treatment typically involves a combination of medications and behavioral therapy.
