Mental Health Home > Narcan Dosing

The dosing guidelines for Narcan® (naloxone hydrochloride) will vary for each person, based on factors such as your age, weight, and reason for receiving this drug. Your healthcare provider will choose the best dose for you based on your individual situation.
Narcan comes as a liquid that is injected by a healthcare provider into your vein, muscle, or under the skin. Because the effects of Narcan may be shorter than those of some opioids, repeated doses may be every two to three minutes, if necessary.
If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Narcan dosing in general, please talk with your healthcare provider, nurse, or pharmacist.
(Click Narcan Dosage for more information on when and how this drug is given, including dosing guidelines for reversing the effects of opioid medications.)
