Mental Health Home > Serzone Drug Information

Serzone® (nefazodone hydrochloride) is a prescription drug that works to treat depression by balancing the levels of certain chemicals in the brain (serotonin and norepinephrine). In addition to improving the symptoms of depression, the medication can reduce the chances of a relapse. "Off-label" uses include the treatment of anxiety, panic disorder, and other conditions.

This medicine is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and what medications you are taking before prescribing Serzone. In clinical trials, some of the most commonly reported side effects of this product included headache, dry mouth, and nausea.
