Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse™) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although the drug is a stimulant, it produces a calming effect when used for ADHD. This medicine comes in capsule form and is available in six different strengths. It is taken once a day in the morning, with or without food. Because this drug has the potential to be abused, there are special rules for prescribing it.
