Mental Health Home > Chasteberry Herbal Information

When used as an herbal supplement, chasteberry (vitex) is claimed to be useful for infertility, low milk supply, and menstrual irregularities. It appears to have some effect on certain hormone levels and dopamine receptors, but more research is needed in order to determine this for certain and to come up with established dosing guidelines.

Just because chasteberry is an herbal product, this does not mean it is free from side effects or that everyone can take it. Educate yourself on the safety information concerning this product. For example, people with hormone-sensitive conditions may need to avoid it.
