Marplan and Breastfeeding: An OverviewIt is not known if Marplan® (isocarboxazid) passes through breast milk. Due to the possible harmful effects Marplan might have on the breastfeeding infant, you should talk with your healthcare provider before taking Marplan while breastfeeding.
No research has been done to see if Marplan passes through breast milk in humans, as is common with older, less commonly used medications. Therefore, it is not known what the effects to a breastfeeding baby might be. Because Marplan is usually used as a last resort in people with severe depression, it may not be a good idea for a mother who is breastfeeding to stop taking Marplan.
