A number of medications may cause drug interactions with maprotiline, including barbiturates, SSRI antidepressants, cimetidine, and anticholinergic medications. These interactions can increase the level of maprotiline in your blood and increase your risk for developing dangerous side effects. To help prevent maprotiline drug interactions, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking.

Maprotiline Drug Interactions: An Introduction

Maprotiline hydrochloride (Ludiomil®) can potentially interact with many medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to maprotiline interactions include:
  • Alcohol  
  • Anticholinergic medications, including:



  • Arrhythmia medications, including:



  • Barbiturates, including:


    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)




  • Phenothiazine medications, including:



  • Pressors, including:


    • Dopamine (Intropin®)
    • Dobutamine (Dobutrex®)
    • Epinephrine (Adrenalin®, EpiPen®)
    • Norepinephrine (Levophed®)


  • Thyroid medications, including:
