Tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking before starting citalopram to prevent drug interactions. If this antidepressant is taken with aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cimetidine, or other products, it could cause the medicine levels in your blood to become too high or too low and lead to side effects such as serotonin syndrome, stomach bleeding, or irregular heart rhythm.
