Drug Interactions With Lorazepam (Cont.)

 
Divalproex (Depakote, Depakote ER) or Valproic Acid (Depakene)
Divalproex or valproic acid can raise the level of lorazepam in your blood, increasing your risk of lorazepam side effects. Typically, your healthcare provider will need to lower your lorazepam dosage (usually by 50 percent) if you are taking these drugs together.
 
Narcotics or Opiates
Combining an opiate or narcotic with lorazepam can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking lorazepam with an opiate or narcotic.
 
Other Benzodiazepines
Combining lorazepam with other benzodiazepines can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking lorazepam with another benzodiazepine.
 
Probenecid
Probenecid can raise the level of lorazepam in your blood, increasing your risk of lorazepam side effects. Typically, your healthcare provider will need to lower your lorazepam dosage (usually by 50 percent) if you are taking these drugs together.
 
Seizure Medications
Combining a seizure medication with lorazepam can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking lorazepam with a seizure medication.
 
Sleep Medications
Combining a sleep medication with lorazepam can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may occur. Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking lorazepam with a sleep medication.
