Librium Drug Interactions

Some of the drugs that can potentially interact with Librium include alcohol, antidepressant medications, and antipsychotic medications. These Librium drug interactions can increase your risk of side effects, such as memory loss, confusion, drowsiness, and difficulty breathing. Therefore, be sure to talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about potential drug interactions before taking Librium with another medication.

An Overview of Librium Drug Interactions

 Librium® (chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride) can potentially interact with numerous other medications, especially other medications that affect the brain. Some of these medicines that may lead to Librium interactions include:
 
o Clozapine (Clozaril®, FazaClo®)
  • Barbiturates, including:
o Amobarbital (Amytal®)
o Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
o Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Secobarbital (Seconal®) 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
o Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
o Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
o Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
o Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
o Telithromycin (Ketek®) 
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
  • Seizure medications
  • Sleep medications.
