L-Methylfolate Use During Pregnancy
The need for adequate folate consumption increases during pregnancy. Numerous studies support the use of folic acid supplementation to prevent folate deficiency and anemia in pregnant women. Low folate levels have been linked to miscarriages and neural tube defects, such as spina bifida. Adequate folic acid intake before and during early pregnancy reduces the risk for these complications.
