Drug Interactions With Fluvoxamine CR

Intravenous Methylene Blue
Taking fluvoxamine CR with intravenous methylene blue can increase your chance of developing dangerous side effects, including serotonin syndrome. Do not take these medications together.
  
Linezolid (Zyvox)
Combining fluvoxamine CR with a linezolid can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Serotonin syndrome may cause:
 
  • Confusion
  • Hallucinations
  • Muscle spasms
  • Diarrhea
  • Difficulty walking.
 
Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
 
Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid)
Taking fluvoxamine CR with lithium can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be dangerous.
 
Methadone (Dolophine, Methadose)
Fluvoxamine CR can increase the level of methadone in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your methadone dosage when you are starting or stopping fluvoxamine CR.
 
Metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL)
Fluvoxamine CR can increase the level of metoprolol in your blood, perhaps increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of metoprolol to prevent this drug interaction from occurring.
