Desyrel®, a prescription medicine, is commonly used to treat depression in adults. It helps to improve the symptoms of depression by balancing the levels of a certain chemical in the brain, called serotonin. The antidepressant, which comes as a tablet and is available in three different strengths, is generally taken one to three times a day. Side effects of Desyrel can include dry mouth, drowsiness, nausea, and fatigue.
