Who Should Not Take Desvenlafaxine?

You should not take desvenlafaxine if you:
 
  • Are allergic to desvenlafaxine, Pristiq, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Are allergic to venlafaxine (Effexor®, Effexor® XR), a closely related medication.
     
  • Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. Also, you should not take an MAOI if you have taken desvenlafaxine within the last seven days. MAOIs include:
