Clomid and Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is a rare but possible side effect that has been reported with Clomid. During clinical studies, vaginal dryness was reported by less than 1 percent of women taking the medication. Clomid and Vaginal Dryness: An Overview

There are a number of possible side effects with Clomid® (clomiphene citrate). Vaginal dryness does appear to be one of them. This data comes from clinical trials where Clomid was studied extensively and side effects were documented.
 

Understanding Clinical Trials

Before medicines are approved, they must go through several clinical studies where thousands of people are given a particular medicine and compared to a group of people not given the medicine. In these studies, side effects are always documented. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine. Side effects are then usually separated into those that occur in more than 1 percent of people and those that occur in less than 1 percent of people.
 
For people taking Clomid, vaginal dryness was reported as a rare side effect, occurring in less than 1 percent of people.

Vaginal dryness can be bothersome and painful for any woman, but it is especially a problem for women trying to become pregnant.
 Most over-the-counter lubricants are damaging to sperm, and it is generally not recommended to use these products when trying to get pregnant. However, there are new over-the-counter lubricant products especially designed for women trying to become pregnant.
 
Ask your healthcare provider about ways to deal with vaginal dryness, including new over-the-counter lubricant products that are not harmful to sperm.
