Drug Interactions With Citalopram

Be sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking before starting a new drug to prevent drug interactions. With citalopram, a drug interaction may potentially occur if the antidepressant is taken together with aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or cimetidine. Drug interactions with citalopram can cause the medicine levels in your blood to become too high or too low and potentially lead to side effects such as serotonin syndrome, stomach bleeding, or irregular heart rhythm.

Citalopram Drug Interactions: An Introduction

 Citalopram hydrobromide (Celexa®) can potentially interact with a number of medicines. Some of the medicines that can lead to citalopram interactions include:
