Precautions and Warnings With Chlordiazepoxide and Amitriptyline
To help minimize risks, make sure to review precautions and warnings with chlordiazepoxide and amitriptyline before starting treatment. Use the medicine with caution if you have a history of heart problems, seizures, or glaucoma. Precautions and warnings with chlordiazepoxide and amitriptyline also include people who are allergic to any components of the drug, have recently had a heart attack, or have taken an MAOI in the past two weeks.
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking chlordiazepoxide and amitriptyline (Limbitrol®) if you have:
- A recent history of heart attack
- Heart disease
- Seizures
- Difficulty passing urine
- Glaucoma
- An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
- Kidney disease, including kidney failure (renal failure)
- Liver disease, including liver failure or cirrhosis
- A history of drug or alcohol abuse (see Limbitrol and Alcohol)
- Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
- Breastfeeding.
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
