Campral Drug Interactions

At this time, no medications are known to interact with Campral. Drug interactions, in most cases, are caused by changes in liver enzymes. However, Campral does not affect liver enzymes and is, therefore, unlikely to affect other medications. While naltrexone can slightly increase the levels of Campral in the blood, this increase is not significant enough to cause any problems.

Does Campral Interact With Other Medications?

Campral® (acamprosate calcium) does not have any known drug interactions. However, you should always tell your healthcare provider about any medications or supplements you are taking before using Campral. Even though there are no known drug interactions at this time, Campral has not been tested with all other medications. Therefore, a potential drug interaction with Campral may be discovered in the future.

Many (if not most) drug interactions are caused by changes in liver enzymes. Liver enzymes metabolize (break down) most medications, and some medications may increase or decrease the activity of liver enzymes. However, Campral does not appear to affect liver enzymes, which is why it is unlikely to interact with other medications. Also, Campral is not metabolized by liver enzymes, which also makes it unlikely to interact with other medications.

Naltrexone (Depade®, ReVia®, Vivitrol™) can slightly increase the level of Campral in the blood. However, this increase is not significant enough to cause problems or to require any dose adjustments.

Campral Drug Interactions: Final Thoughts

As mentioned, Campral drug interactions could be discovered at any time. Therefore, whenever you start or stop a medication, talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the possible drug interactions that may apply to you.
