Who Should Not Take Bupropion?

You should not take bupropion if you:

Are allergic to Wellbutrin, bupropion hydrochloride, or any inactive components used to make bupropion. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients used to make bupropion.
Are taking other medications containing bupropion, including Budeprion SR^®, Buproban^®, Budeprion XL^®, Wellbutrin SR^®, Wellbutrin XL^®, and Zyban^®.
Have a seizure disorder.
Have anorexia or bulimia.
Abruptly stop drinking alcohol or taking sedative medications, such as alprazolam (Xanax^®), diazepam (Valium^®), clonazepam (Klonopin^®), lorazepam (Ativan^®), and many other medications.
Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. MAOIs can include:

Isocarboxazid (Marplan^®)
Phenelzine (Nardil^®)
Rasagiline (Azilect^®)
Selegiline (Eldepryl^®, Emsam^®, Zelapar^®)
Tranylcypromine (Parnate^®).
