What Is Bupropion SR Used For?

Bupropion SR is not approved for use in teenagers or children with depression or to help children or teens stop smoking, as it has been only studied in adults. Talk with your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using bupropion SR in children or teens.
 

Off-Label Bupropion SR Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend bupropion SR for treating something other than depression. This is called an "off-label" use. At this time, there are several off-label bupropion SR uses, including:
 
  • Treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Treatment of seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
