What If I Take an Overdose?
People who take too much
bupropion SR may have overdose symptoms that could include:
- Seizures
- Hallucinations
- Fainting
- A rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
- Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
- Fever
- Muscle tension, pain, and damage
- Low blood pressure (hypotension)
- Breathing problems
- Coma
- Loss of life.
If you happen to take too much, seek prompt medical attention.
Bupropion SR should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture or heat, in an airtight container. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
If you do not take your bupropion SR as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

- Bupropion SR 100 mg

Is There a Generic Version?
Currently, both brand-name and generic versions of bupropion SR are licensed for sale. Some versions are generic substitutes for
Wellbutrin SR, while others are generic substitutes for
Zyban. Technically, they are not interchangeable, although the only difference is in the prescribing information. Also, one company has chosen to use different names for its generic bupropion SR versions:
Budeprion SR® (generic for
Wellbutrin SR) and
Buproban® (generic for Zyban).
