Drug Interactions With Atomoxetine

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking atomoxetine with MAOIs can cause serious, life-threatening side effects, such as very high blood pressure. Do not take atomoxetine if you have taken an MAOI within the past two weeks, and do not take an MAOI if you have taken atomoxetine within the past two weeks.
 
Paroxetine (Paxil, Paxil CR, Pexeva, Brisdelle)
Taking atomoxetine with paroxetine can increase the amount of atomoxetine in your blood, possibly leading to increased side effects. If you are taking atomoxetine along with paroxetine, you may begin treatment at the usual atomoxetine starting dose. However, your healthcare provider should increase your dose only if necessary and only if you are not experiencing bothersome side effects.
 
Pergolide (Permax)
Taking atomoxetine with pergolide can increase the amount of atomoxetine in your blood, possibly leading to increased side effects. If you are taking atomoxetine along with pergolide, you may begin treatment at the usual atomoxetine starting dose. However, your healthcare provider should increase your dose only if necessary and only if you are not experiencing bothersome side effects.
 
Pressors
Taking atomoxetine with pressors (medications intended to increase blood pressure) may cause increased side effects, especially very high blood pressure. If you are taking atomoxetine along with a pressor, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these medications.
 
Quinidine
Taking atomoxetine with quinidine can increase the amount of atomoxetine in your blood, possibly leading to increased side effects. If you are taking atomoxetine along with quinidine, you may begin treatment at the usual atomoxetine starting dose. However, your healthcare provider should increase your dose only if necessary and only if you are not experiencing bothersome side effects.
