Aripiprazole ER Injection
Aripiprazole ER injection is prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia. This antipsychotic medication is approved for use in people who have previously taken the oral form of aripiprazole and have tolerated it well. It works by blocking the effects of dopamine and other brain chemicals, which are believed to be elevated in people with these conditions.
Aripiprazole ER injection (Abilify Maintena™) is a long-acting prescription medication approved to treat schizophrenia. It is for people who have previously taken and are known to tolerate the oral form of aripiprazole (Abilify®).

Just like any medicine, aripiprazole ER injection can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
