The dose of amphetamine-dextroamphetamine extended release (Adderall XR®) your healthcare provider prescribes will vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Other medications you may currently be taking.

Refer to the following table for the recommended dosing for amphetamine-dextroamphetamine extended release based on a person's age:
 
Age Dosage
6 to 12 years old 10 to 30 mg once daily
13 to 17 years old 10 to 20 mg once daily
Adults 20 mg once daily
 
Generally, a lower dosage of amphetamine-dextroamphetamine extended release should be tried first. Also, the dosage should be increased slowly and only if necessary.
