Amoxapine and Breastfeeding

Amoxapine (Asendin®) passes through breast milk. Due to the possible harmful effects that amoxapine might have on a breastfeeding infant, you should talk with your healthcare provider before taking amoxapine while breastfeeding.

Very little research has been conducted on the use of amoxapine in breastfeeding women. It is not clear how much amoxapine is passed through breast milk and whether this poses any danger to a breastfeeding baby.

You should talk with your healthcare provider about amoxapine and breastfeeding. This is because everyone's situation is different, and your healthcare provider understands your situation best. Based on what you want and expect (as well as your current health situation), you and your healthcare provider can make a shared decision about amoxapine and breastfeeding in your particular situation.
